Dolores Fixfrutta -- "Bagheera"

A good dog overall brightens your day and each experience they join in on, and to meet Bagheera is to fall in love with her! She has an endearing temperament and is a beautiful sight to behold. Her heritage is exemplary of the best of the GSD breed in regards to both health, conformation, and tempearment. Her lineage exhibits longevity beyond the breed’s normal life expectancy.
Bagheera is very attentive and focused on her person. She is not a needy or anxious dog demanding attention, but watches her person closely and is ready to respond quickly to any direction given. She moves when I move, settles when I’m settled, but might also have some fun chasing bugs that might fly by when outdoors. Bagheera is a very sweet girl, loves to be pet or snuggled, and equally loves being active in playtime. She has very balanced energy and drive with that classic shepherd on/off switch that makes her delightful to take anywhere: she adjusts appropriately depending on the situation. Bagheera is naturally 100% trustworthy off-leash, and will stick by her person’s side through any adventure without enticing treats, leash, fence, or toy--her person is her greatest reward. Bagheera is a capable and athletic dog witg a strong desire to please and she is notably high intelligence.

We had high expectations for Bagheera (that she exceeded) because of the family line she comes from. She shares part of her lineage on her father’s side with our popular girl West. As for Bagheera's motherline, it's likewise shared with some of our other dogs we personally know/own and love. Highly notable dogs in Bagheera’s lineage are VA1 Margman Yan, V Freddi, VA1 Wikky, VA4 Labo, and more. Tese names do not typically hold the weight that they should to the average layperson who doesn't know these dogs, but the quality of this lineage is delightfully evident to anyone when interacting with a puppy. This only becomes more and more apparent as the puppy grows and develops into what feels like a partnership.

Bagheera's hips are FCI A and elbows are FCI 0--the best ratings. In addition to her certification, Bagheera's actual xrays are available to view at request.

She also tested DNA CLEAR of the following known to effect German Shepherds:

  • MDR1 Drug Sensitivity
  • Scott Syndrome (a defect in platelet function leading to impaired secondary hemostasis)
  • Canine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (A disorder of white blood cells)
  • Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia A, (Blood clotting disorder)
  • Hyperuricosuria and Hyperuricemia or Urolithiasis (Causes kidney and bladder stones composed of urate)
  • Sly Syndrome (A type of lysosomal storage disease)
  • Achromatopsia (a progressive disorder of the retina)
  • Renal Cystadenocarcinoma and Nodular Dermatofibrosis (A multiorgan syndrome)
  • X-linked Ectodermal Dysplasia Anhidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia (a developmental condition)

She tested as carrier for only one out of the 200+ genetic conditions tested. She is Degenerative Myelopathy N/A—so she will only be paired with studs that are tested DM N/N “clear” and none of her puppies will ever be at risk. This is why we test! We’re thankful that these tests are available to us and also very thankful for the ongoing research that will continue to aid our program.None of Velvet's puppies will have two abnormal genes and therefore be considered “at risk” for any of the above.
